Shark Week: Jaws vs. The Blob
From concept to completion, we designed, produced, and operated an underwater “TV” for a Shark Week production that aired tonight on The Discovery Channel.
The concept was simple: let’s show video and images of great white sharks to sharks in the wild and see what happens! Building a 100” diagonal TV was a big challenge, so our team proposed using an ultra-short throw projector. This allowed us to create a large underwater image without building a 4ft by 8ft underwater enclosure (and figuring out how to transport it to Mexico).
The project started in September, and we were on location in December at Guadalupe Island. The shoot was very successful—check it out now on Discovery and Discovery+!
