(2017) Net Lights

Experimental “in-net” lighting system to test the hypothesis that increased visibility of a shrimp trawl net could reduce bycatch. The system consists of LED “nodes” connected in series along with a rechargeable battery housing attached to the trawl net. Enclosed with the battery is an LED controller that gives users the choice of constant on, flashing, breathing, and different brightness values.
