MV Series Housing Scallop Drop Camera (2018)
The University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth's Marine Fisheries Field Research Group (About Us – Marine Fisheries Field Research Group) has been working on estimating scallop abundance and distribution along the Atlantic Coast of North America to understand the effects of anthropogenic climate change and natural decadal climatic variability. When Cris Jaffee came to us to talk about co-developing a housing for the Leica M10 Ranger, we were more than enthuasastic to assist. A prototype system originally built to film marine archeological discoveries in the depths of Egypt, this system was made to be modular. With a simple adjustment of the mounting position, the E2X4 system can be mounted to a diver-driven sled (shown), mounted on scooters, or placed upon a tripod for static capture. This is key for the success of a cinematic system that is being taken in extreme environments to create immersive expereinces for the audience. (2023) Tricam- Deep Sea Cinematic System
The Tri-Clops system, co-created with our partners at Nautilus Live, is a three camera system array which was designed to shoot the highest quality, production-ready video for deep sea exploration. The focus of this system was to create cinematic video for photogrammetry and stereo applications. The team at Nautilus integrated the camera system into their Hercules ROV to assist their efforts exploring the underwater terrain in the Hawaiian Archipelago.
